KAYLA BRINKLEY, M.Ed., LPC
Hi, I’m Kayla. I’m glad you’re here.
I believe feeling understood can make all the difference.
I've always valued genuine connection and the opportunity to really get to know people. I also know what it's like to feel the pressure to do everything well, meet expectations, and look to others for reassurance and approval. Over time, I've come to appreciate the importance of giving ourselves the same understanding and compassion we so often extend to others.
I believe there's something meaningful about having a space where you can be yourself, feel understood, and talk openly without worrying about expectations or judgment.
One of my favorite parts of being a therapist is getting to know the person beyond what initially brings them to counseling. I enjoy hearing people's stories, learning what matters most to them, and helping them better understand themselves and the patterns that may be keeping them stuck. I believe meaningful change often begins with feeling heard, gaining a new perspective, and recognizing that you don't have to figure everything out on your own.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our son, and our Labrador, Bailey. I also love gardening, hiking, and getting lost in a good book. These are some of my favorite ways to slow down, recharge, and enjoy the little things in life.
What’s it like to work with me?
I know that reaching out for therapy isn't always easy, especially when you're used to being the person who has everything handled. You may be great at showing up for the people in your life, but finding the time and space to focus on yourself can feel unfamiliar.
My goal is to make therapy a place where you can set those expectations aside. Somewhere you can be honest about what you're going through, feel comfortable asking questions, and know that you don't have to have everything figured out.
As a therapist, I bring a warm, conversational, and collaborative approach to our work together. I believe in taking the time to understand the whole person, not just the challenges that brought them to therapy. I incorporate evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR, while tailoring our work to your individual needs and goals.
A genuine connection.
I believe the relationship between a therapist and client matters. I want you to feel comfortable being yourself, asking questions, and sharing what's on your mind without worrying about saying the right thing.
An individualized approach.
No two people come into therapy with the same experiences or needs. I take the time to get to know you and incorporate approaches that make sense for your concerns, goals, and preferences.
Purposeful conversations.
I value conversations that help you better understand yourself, but I also want our work to feel useful in your everyday life. Together, we'll explore new perspectives and practical ways to approach the challenges you're facing.
